Aaron Woods

OCDA Member At Large

Graduate Student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, George Fox University

Aaron Woods is currently a graduate student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at George Fox University.  He is currently working through two internships doing general counseling and career counseling.  His graduation date will be May 2020.

Aaron recently left a successful 20-year career in high-technology to pursue a counseling career.  He believes this previous career will be very beneficial when working with clients who feel stuck, burned out or unsure how to proceed in their career development.  He looks forward to using his knowledge and perspective to help clients with their career development.  Aaron recently became certified to conduct the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and currently working on certification for the STRONG Interest Inventory.

Aaron’s counseling philosophy in career discussions is that we benefit from looking at what is going well in our career and what is not.  Work is one of the most important parts of our life and if we feel stuck or disconnected, it can have significant effects on our job satisfaction, enthusiasm, and attitude.  Aaron’s approach is to use assessments if helpful, discuss relevant options, and create new pathways to increase self-awareness, knowledge, and optimism for the future.  He can also help clients with resume development, interviewing skills, and networking.  His goal is to help the clients understand their strengths, weaknesses and find more success for their career.

Joining the OCDA board is a great opportunity to be around a variety of professionals who have many different experiences.  He is looking forward to learning from his fellow board members and contribute to the success of OCDA.
